A new watercolour painting by Amanda Ansell has been acquired by the Yantai Art Museum, China. This piece was inspired by a ten day stay in Yantai, eastern China, September 2018. With travel supported by the British Council UK-China Connections through Culture Scheme, Amanda participated in a cultural exchange and exhibited twelve watercolour works at two locations in the city (Yantai Art Museum and Yantai City Art Museum).

Deep Sea Echo (Yantai, 2018) was made in response to Amanda’s time spent in the city of Yantai.

“At Yantai port side, the marketplace is bustling and the sea water and sludge is churning underfoot. Hundreds of flags are flying from the tops of fishing boats; over time and in the strong sunlight of the day, red Chinese flags have become orange.”
